Hello!
My name is Reese. My pronouns are they/them or he/him. I am pursuing two bachelor's degrees in Native American Studies and illustration at Northern Michigan University. My art explores a wide variety of themes, from social justice, Indigenous empowerment, and LGBT+ identity to horror and fantasy. I am also working on my first webcomic.
It is important to note that while I have Anishinaabe ancestry, I am not an Indigenous artist. I have ancestral ties to the Mackinac Bands of Chippewa and Ottawa Indians, but I am not enrolled and I am of mostly European descent. I am passionate about reconnecting to my ancestors' culture and decolonizing my mind and the way that I live my life, and one of the ways I do that is through my art. In the past, I have profited off my art related to Indigenous peoples. I am no longer comfortable doing so, as I don't think it is my place. Instead, I would like to think of my art as a gift to Indigenous people. If you are Indigenous and you would like to sell prints of my work relating to Indigenous peoples, you have my full permission and you can keep 100% of the profits. All I ask is that you email me about it so I can send you high quality scans of my work.
